How To Meet A Single Guy In Nigeria
A lot of female visitors who storm Lagos have romance at the back of their minds as they hope to meet the guy that would sweep them off their feet during their stay. Unfortunately, while single men are literally everywhere in the city, meeting quality single guys can be an arduous task. Everyone seems to be so busy, and the ones you manage to meet at bars and club may not exactly be what you would consider “quality”.

i've lost count those i killed - Suspected Cultist Gun Down Resident Near Community School ( Gphotos )
Residents of Eru Oloja, Simawa community in the Mowe area of Ogun State have protested the killing of a man, Oluwaseun Adebayo, near the community school by gunmen who were suspected cultists.
PUNCH Metro learnt that some landlords in the area, who thronged the Ogijo Police Division, demanded an immediate arrest of the suspects, who were identified as Eiye Confraternity members.
Our correspondent gathered that on Tuesday, July 7, at about 5.30pm, 32-year-old Adebayo, also known as Jafunrae, boarded a commercial motorcycle from Lotto, Mowe, and was heading for his house.
It was learnt that another commercial motocycle, conveying three men in black dresses, however, waylaid him.
The assailants, who were said to have trailed Adebayo from Lotto to Eru Oloja community, shot him in the head near a bush in the community primary school, and fled the area.
The victim died instantly.
Some of the aggrieved landlords, who accused the police of slow investigation into the case, reportedly headed for the police station, demanding that the cultists be apprehended.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, a landlord, who identified himself only as Baba Ijebu, said the killing, if not checked, could result in reprisals and turn the area into a battlefield for cultists.
He said, “We were shocked that cultists would kill a grown-up man in broad daylight in our area. The sound of gunshots caused confusion.
We do not know what the deceased and the attackers had in common, but why should they kill him in our area. We don’t want the other gang to invade our area and start killing our children. We want the police to intensify security in our area.”
Our correspondent learnt that Adebayo, whose family could not be contacted for comment as of the time of visit, was a factory worker. He was reportedly heading home when he was killed.
Another resident, who gave his name as Esa Oke, said the deceased’s body was left on the road till the following day, adding that schoolchildren saw it.
He said, “The man was shot dead beside the only primary school in our area. Imagine that it was school hours, one of our children could have been hit by stray bullets.
“If cultists are waylaying one another, let them know which area to go because we do not belong to any cult group in this area. The police should do their work, and let us live in peace.
“The man’s bloodstained body was on the road overnight, and our children were made to be seeing that gory sight. The deceased was said to be a member of the Aiye Confraternity.”
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the police had intensified patrol in the area, which led to the arrest of two suspects. He said the suspects would be charged to court on Wednesday (today).
He said, “The killing is true, but policemen in the area, led by the Divisional Police Officer, launched a raid on the cultists’ hideout, and arrested two suspected cultists.
“We have not established whether the two are responsible for the killing, but they will be charged to court for cultism on Wednesday. Patrols have also been intensified in the area.”

2016 Budget Allocation: How The Budget Will Be Shared
President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, Friday, received a damning verdict from the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
ASUU, at its 19th National Delegates Conference held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, said Nigerians were yet to experience the much talked-about change Mr. Buhari promised the nation.
The administration has failed the people, ASUU said.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, was represented at the event by his Special Adviser, A.B. Baffa.
The president of ASUU, Nasir Isa, while addressing the conference, said, Mr. Buhari was waging a “half-hearted” fight against corruption, and that the poor was getting poorer, while “a tiny club of nouvea riche, treasury looters, phantom contractors, subsidy scammers and rent collectors are flowing in scandalous opulence and manipulating the legal structures of the state to escape.
“One year after, there has been no positive change in the major indices of growth and development, be it poverty reduction, safety and security, disease control or access to basic amenities and public good,” he said.
Mr. Isa said the government appeared to have no direction in its policies, thereby causing Nigerians to be disillusioned with it.
“The disappointment of Nigerians stems from the fact that we have a government whose leadership promised change but which is not practising transformation (deep, fundamental change).
“Democracy in Nigeria is still seen superficially as what leaders do for the people rather than government by the people,” ASUU said.
Mr. Isa, whose tenure as ASUU president comes to an end at the two-day conference, said the Nigerian government has abandoned a socialist welfare state prescribed by the provisions of Chapter Two of the 1999 Constitution, and embraced unfavourable policies handed down by IMF and World Bank.
“As intellectuals, we know the Nigerian condition is a reflection of the conspiracy between African rulers and agents of Bretton Wood Institutions particularly the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB),” Mr. Isa said.
“The conspiracy was consummated in the 1980s when these institutions for the protection and advancement of capitalism, came up with their ‘standard reform package’ now known as the ‘Washington consensus.’
“This package was designed for the African and other underdeveloped economies in order to perpetuate their enslavement to the capitalist world. Many of us would recall General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida’s debate on this ‘consensus’ in 1985/86.
“Even though the Nigerian people overwhelmingly rejected the IMF/WB loan, the Babangida Government still went ahead to implement the key neoliberal prescriptions of devaluation of the Naira and trade liberalisation.
“President Olusegun Obasanjo and his successors from 1999 have unabashedly intensified the implementation of this package through criminal privatisation and commercialisation of public assets, in faithful surrender to the Washington ‘consensus.’
“In all of these, the Nigerian ruling class is unmindful of stiff resistance by the labour movement, civil society groups, the media and other progressive forces in the country. This is much unlike what obtains in other climes such as the Asian Tigers (Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea) who got industrialised without surrendering their economies to the prowling reach of local and foreign marketers of the ‘Washington consensus’,” the union said.
Mr. Isa said ASUU must not relent in working with other progressives to fight for the common good of Nigerians.
He announced that ASUU has donated an initial sum of N20 million to help ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians displaced from their homes and communities in the North East, due to the insurgency in the region.
He said the amount was in addition to the N5million earlier donated by the union to the National Hospital, Abuja, for medical assistance to the victims of the Nyanya Motor Park bomb blast.
The ASUU president paid glowing tributes to late Eskor Toyo, a revered professor of economics, whom he said was “a great institution on his own right”.
Mr. Isa said of late Toyo: “He was a grand meteor, an economist who attained an unparalleled height in the discipline, a historian’s historian, an unusually endowed political iconoclast who offered himself to the vagaries of life and yet remained a credible spokesperson for the voiceless members of our world, an Africanist, a rare intellectual warrior, a writer who wrote to right the wrongs of his time, an educator who spoke to conscience.”
The Minister of Education, Mr. Adamu, in his goodwill message to the conference, said the Buhari administration was “peerlessly committed to the resuscitation or restoration of the Nigerian Project by confronting the evils of corruption, unemployment, insecurity and indiscipline”.
Mr. Adamu called on ASUU to support his Ministerial Action Plan, which he said was designed to reposition Nigeria’s ailing education sector.

Nigeria, U.S. Trade Hits $799.9Million In Two Months
Besides, Nigeria's oil and gas business relationship with Houston Texas in 2015 stands at $15 billion.
The Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, who made this disclosure at the 2016 Nigeria Content Investment Forum in Houston Texas, organised by Sweetcrude Reports, in collaboration with Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and The Guardian Newspapers, described oil and gas trade between Nigeria and Houston as a success story.
According to him, Nigeria as one of the U.S. largest trade partners, stressing that the country will continue to strengthen ties with Africa's economic giant.
In a special message to Nigeria's Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Houston's manufacturers, he explained that the existing close ties between Nigeria and Houston has made many oil companies to have office branches or associates in the country.
"330 Houston companies have businesses and trade connection with Nigeria," Turner said, noting that Houston ranks as Nigeria largest U.S. gateway for international trade and for greater partnership.

Now That You Have Gotten The Job,What Next?
There are millions of unemployed youths in Nigeria, and another set of millions that are under employed. So, when you get a job with a reasonable pay my brother na Godwin. It’s a miracle in this country. Only very few ones are the lucky ones the reason why testimonies of how people get job in the church becomes a very rear occurrence.
I knew a guy that got a job. He started misbehaving immediately he resumed. At the peak of his misbehaviour he was found with the key of the vault in the bursary department of his company. He was sacked immediately despite the fact he was well connected to the boss of the company. Some months later I saw him in another town, he was looking like a mad man. The worst of being unemployed is to be employed and lose that job.
Another was a guy that went for his IT in a bank and later he was retained. He started leaving lager than what he was earning. This led him to be involved in a bank fraud which later led to his sack. Right now he is regretting his actions.
So, when you get a job, consider the following and other things as you proceed in the course of your carrier.
1. Don’t forget your God
It’s amazing how we become less religious after getting a job. Before some people got this job, they were always in church, working in his vine yard. Some turned mosque into their house. Let them get the job, you will hardly find them in church on Sundays let alone week days or vigil or Jumat service. It’s said, something that is good needs prayer, the same way our expectations. Don’t forget your God, first thing most.
2. Be grateful always
When you have this mind of gratitude in your heart about what God has done for you as per giving you a job, you are on your way to getting better things. Your gratitude is not only to God but to men that facilitate the job in one way or the other. Your parents, siblings etc. some people will always complain, comparing themselves with friends or relatives working in a better place or earing a better salary. This may not help your situation in anyway. Always thank God.
3. Know your company
Familiarize yourself with the condition of service of your new company. Master the organogram and the channel of communications. Ignorance it’s not an excuse. Know the company; know something about your boss, about other co-workers. Don’t be too big or afraid to ask questions. Master your work schedule.
4. Give your best always
Be punctual, dress smartly and neatly, be polite and honest; be dedicated; give total loyalty to your boss. Leave pride out of your life. Work on your weak points. One thing we fail to know is that, people are actually watching us .and the fact is, they know what we are doing. What happens in most cases is this, when decisions are being taking on our job; by the management either positive or negative we are not always present. What will speak for us it’s the record of our past work. In my place of work, I use my personal resources sometimes to get result on a particular task . My boss knows me, I never complain. What they always see is result, and this has helped me a lot.
5. Think of others
When I got my job, each time I always remember my friends and family members that we were in the struggle before. I always imagine what they might be passing through. It actually helped me to secure job for two of my friends. When I got my job, I discovered there was a challenge in that environment. Immediately I called a friend that I knew could fit in, he looked for money and started his business in the premises after I helped with the process of starting a business. He started this business the same month I got there. The fact is this; there is nothing I have acquired so far that he has not gotten. In fact, sometimes he helped me out with cash when salary is delayed. Some months later, I thought of another business around, I called another family friend, who his family members will not stop thanking me up till now. Right now I am thinking of how to still help somebody. These are my greatest joy in my place of work.
6. Be kind –
Similar to the above is, be kind to people at your work place, at home everywhere. If you are dealing with the public try as much as possible to be kind in a legal way. It will go a long way in giving you joy on daily bases and you earn respect from everybody. Some people are kind to people because of what they are expecting from them at the end of the day. The fact is, people are naturally ungrateful, if they get what they want from you, you don’t see them again until they are in need of another help. So, when helping people out don’t expect anything from them. Most times, some give you something as bait. Be careful.
7. Think of saving
Don’t eat with your two hands. Save and spend the rest. If you take your full salary home every month and spend, it won’t be enough. If you divide it to half and you manage it, you will still achieve alot with it. I joined cooperative society the very month I got my job. Latter when I discovered I was doing a lot of father xmas, I increased my savings. When I discovered I was even misbehaving in my spendings I opened a savings account with a bank that I know is very far from my environment. I made sure I didn’t subscribe to ATM to avoid temptations so, immediately I received alert of my salary, I transfer first to that account before doing justice to the rest. You won’t imagine the project I did with that money after two years. Be financially discipline.
8. Think of marriage –
When you are young and handsome, even if you are ugly, in as much ladies are aware that you get regular source of money girls will follow you like bees. There is always this big temptation to start flocking around girls or vis a vis . If care is not taking, you may be spending your monthly salary on different girls. It won’t be long you are finish. Not only that, guys will always expect you to go clubbing every weekend. Thinking and working towards marriage will help you a lot. It will make you think like a responsible man .There is need to add this , if you are not careful enough and you get trapped and marry a lady that love you because of your money ,you are seriously finished . if also , you marry ,a lady that doesn’t share in your dream , plans and doesn’t know how to manage with you ,I am sorry for you .
9. Enjoy yourself
Take time out, enjoy yourself. Go spend weekends with friends and relatives at least ones in a while. Go swimming, visit amusement park with your loved ones. You need it seriously. Some people will work and even dash their company their annual leave. If you die today, your colleagues at work will fight for your post. So, take time out and enjoy yourself when you can.
10. Plan to get a life
Plan on how to get a life outside your job. Think of investment, car, and house etc . How to start your own business inclusive. How to acquire more certificate and trainings. Think big. Let your present place of work be a stepping stone. Let it be the spring board to your greatness and personal development.
11. Think of retirement
Think of retirement right from the very first day. A day spent at work is minus the total number of days in service. Think of life after retirement. Don’t think of depending on your children after retirement.

17 Things You Should Put In Mind Everyday
Truth be told, you can’t berate yourself into a better version of yourself. And even though I know this, I sometimes still fall victim to my own negative thinking. Sometimes I’m downright rude to myself. I make a mistake, or fall short of my own expectations, and instead of treating it as a learning opportunity, I beat myself up about it.
I’m sure you can relate. We’ve all been there. We all have bad days and moments of self-doubt.
Sometimes the pressure coming from peers, family, work, and society in general is enough to make us feel completely broken inside. If we don’t have the “right” job, relationship, lifestyle, and so forth, by a certain age or time-frame, we assume we’re just “not good enough.”
So what can we do about it?
Here’s are some good reminders when you’re feeling “not good enough”:
1. You are walking your own path.
Sometimes the reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes circumstances with everyone else’s public highlight reel. Forget what everyone else is doing and achieving. Your life is about breaking your own limits and outgrowing yourself to live YOUR best life.
2.Where you are right now is a necessary step.
Sometimes we avoid experiencing exactly where we are because we have developed a belief, based on our ideals, that it is not where we should be or want to be. But the truth is, where you are right now is exactly where you need to be to get to where you want to go tomorrow.
3. Everything is coming together… maybe not immediately, but gradually.
When times are tough, remind yourself that no pain comes without a purpose. Move on from what hurt you, but never forget what it taught you. Pain is part of growing. Remember that there are two kinds of pain: pain that hurts and pain that changes you. When you roll with life, instead of resisting it, both kinds help you grow.
4. Every day brings a choice: to practice stress or to practice peace.
Choose to be miserable and you’ll find plenty of reasons to be miserable. Choose to be peaceful and you’ll find plenty of reasons to be at peace. Think about it. Are you skilled at making yourself miserable? With those same skills you can make yourself motivated, effective and fulfilled. Do so.
5.You are always good enough to try, and that’s what’s important in the end.
Everything you achieve comes from something you attempt. Make the attempt. Trust me, twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did do. Give yourself a chance.
6. There’s always something small you can do.
There is absolutely nothing about your present situation that prevents you from moving forward, one tiny step at a time. Remember, vision without action is just a daydream; vision must be combined with venture. It is not enough to stare up the steps, you must step up the stairs. And all you have to do is take one step at a time. Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tiptoe if you must, but take that step.
7. Failures are really just lessons that need to be learned.
No day is ever wasted when you live it with purpose and presence. Value and enjoy the journey, even when there are detours along the way.
8. Yesterday’s impossibilities may be possible today.
Experience is the hardest kind of teacher; it gives you the test first and the lesson afterward. But this is really a blessing. It means you’re growing stronger and more capable with every passing day. So don’t you dare give up on today because of the way things looked yesterday. Don’t even think about it.
9. The quality of your vision drives the quality of your life.
It’s up to you how you visualize things and what you focus on. Forget what you don’t like. Focus on what excites you. If you see a possibility, explore it. If you have a dream, live it. Those who are passionate and excited about what they’re doing have an advantage that is nearly impossible to conquer. Be one of these people.
10. You don’t need to get everyone’s approval first.
Stop listening to what the world says you should want. Start listening to who you are. Truth be told, there are only a few people in this world who will stay 100% true to you, and YOU should be one of them.
11. What you’re capable of achieving is greatly based on how much you want it.
When it means enough to you, then you can do it. When you are willing and committed and persistent, you will get yourself there, every time. Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural outcome of consistently applying your focused effort to what you want. The fatigue might be there sometimes, but you must understand that putting it aside is the single most important factor in succeeding.
12. Your best bet is to give yourself no other choice.
It’s amazing what you can do when you have no other choice. In fact, achievement consists mostly of giving yourself no other choice. You are more than good enough; you just have to own it – you have to own everything you are and everything you’re up against. If you believe your troubles are too powerful, then you’ll never allow yourself to rise above them. Stop fretting. Quit worrying. Don’t complain. You know what you must do. So do it.
13. Earn the respect of others by having the audacity to respect yourself.
Self-respect, self-love, self-worth… there’s a reason they all start with “self.” You can’t receive them from anyone else. Earn the respect of others by having the audacity to respect yourself. Dare to love yourself as if you were a rainbow with pots of gold at both ends. It’s your responsibility, above all, to see your own value. And this responsibility to yourself means refusing to let others do your thinking, talking, and deciding for you; it means learning to use your own brains and intuition to make things happen.
14. You are stronger than whatever is troubling you.
Use each setback, each disappointment as a cue to push on ahead with more determination than ever before. When something bad happens, you can either let it define you, let it destroy you or let it strengthen you. The choice is yours. So pump yourself up! You are a lot stronger than you think you are. You may not be where you want to be yet, but look how far you’ve come. Celebrate the fact that you’re not where you used to be.
15. For everything you’ve lost, you’ve gained something else.
Appreciate what you have today. Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful. No regrets, just lessons. No worries, just acceptance. No expectations, just gratitude. Life is too short. The story of your life has many chapters. One bad chapter doesn’t mean it’s the end. So stop re-reading the bad one already, and turn the page.
16. Your scars are symbols of your strength.
Don’t ever be ashamed of the scars life has left you with. A scar means the hurt is over and the wound is closed. It means you conquered the pain, learned a lesson, grew stronger, and moved forward. A scar is the tattoo of a triumph. So don’t allow your scars to hold you hostage. Don’t allow them to make you live your life in fear. You can’t make the scars in your life disappear, but you can change the way you see them. You can start seeing your scars as a sign of strength and not pain.
17. You are still here trying.
If you have no other testimony right now, you have this one: “I’m still here trying.” Be positive, patient and persistent. The more you feel like quitting, the more there is to be gained by continuing to do all three. Because the strongest people aren’t the people who always win, but the people who don’t give up when they lose.
The wisest, most loving, and well rounded people you have ever met are likely those who have known misery, known defeat, known the heartbreak of losing something or someone they loved, and have found their way out of the depths of their own despair. These people have experienced many ups and downs, and have gained an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, understanding and a deep loving wisdom. People like this aren’t born; they develop slowly over the course of time.
And you’re getting there.
