Woman arrested after spending millions on designer bags after £2.3m was mistakenly deposited into her account

A woman, Christine Jiaxin Lee, from Malaysia has been arrested after she spent millions on luxury items including designer bags when £2.3 million was mistakenly transferred into her bank account.

She received the money into her Westpac bank account as an overdraft four years ago and has been 'living the life' since.
According to Nine News, Lee allegedly spent £1.7 million in less than a year when she bought designer handbags and made cash transfers.

The girl who is also a chemical engineering student, was arrested by the Australian Federal Police at Sydney Airport on Wednesday night and according to the report she still owes about £1.7million to the bank.

Lee appeared at Waverley Local Court on Thursday where she was charged with 'dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime'.

According to the court, police were aware of the withdrawal of the money in 2012, but they only issued the arrest warrant on March 4 this year, but the girl's lawyer said she didn't spend the money illegally, and spent majority of the funds on designer handbags.

She will appear at the Downing Centre Local court on June 21.

Barcelona defender Dani Alves turned 33 today and his teammates gave him the most unexpected of celebrations as they bombarded his face and clothe with loads of eggs and flour on his birthday.

Alves was greeted by balloons and a cake from his model girlfriend Joana Sanz before training in the morning, but had to settle for pelts of eggs and flour from his teammates during training this morning. More photos after the cut.

The footballer, 42, also spent £150,000 on a controversial legal battle to hush up his affair with a glamour model.
But it has now emerged that his wife now wants a divorce, and he stands to lose half his £40million fortune.

Niger-Delta Avengers Blow Up Oil Pipelines To Warri,Kaduna Refineries

Newly formed Nigerian Niger Delta militia group, the "Niger Delta Avengers," has carried out its threats to wreak havoc country's economy by blowing up oil and gas pipelines.

The latest attacks on pipelines occurred 24 hours after a major destruction was carried out on Chevron's platform at Escravos.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Mudoch Agbinibo, the group claimed responsibility for blowing up "crude line feeds that links Warri and Kaduna refineries respectively". It also claimed to have damaged the gas line that feeds the Lagos and Abuja electricity power supply. "With this development, the Warri and Kaduna refineries will be shut down and all cities that depend on the gas line for power will all be in total darkness like the creeks of the Niger Delta," the group said.

The group added that on Thursday, its Strike Team 7 blew up Well D25 in Abiteye. The well is a major gas facility owned Chevron. The team also blew up major pipelines in Alero, Dibi, Otunana and Makaraba flow stations, which feed the Chevron tank farm, putting it out of operation. Currently, Chevron's operations in the Niger Delta have been totally disrupted.

The group boasted that it is undeterred by ‎heavy military presence in the area. It said it carried out the bombing about 100meters away from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline, where a military houseboat is stationed to protect the pipelines.

"We want you public to know that despite the heavy presence of military operatives, our activities can’t stop and it just waste of funds and time to let the Nigerian military protect oil installations,"the group bragged.

Mudoch Agbinibo,the Niger Delta Avengers spokesperson, warned the people of the Niger Delta against undermining the group's agenda "This is a clear warning to all Niger Delta politicians, traditional rulers, community leaders and the likes of Tompolo to mind their business and leave the liberation of the Niger Delta people to the Avengers. Those who believe taking sides with the federal government to fight Niger Delta is the best option, Avengers are here on the ground. Neither you nor the federal government can stop us. If you don’t stay clear and let us carry out our activities, we will bring the fight to your individual doorsteps. Our major goal is to cripple the Nigeria economy," warned

Agbinibo also called on all Niger Deltans to attack oil installations in their communities and urged them to see the war as theirs.

Obasanjo Unveils Zero Hunger Initiative

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo over the past weekend in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, unveiled a new initiative tagged ‘Zero Hunger’ to clearly articulate what the country needs to do to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).

Obasanjo tasked the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, ban importation of vegetables, carrots, cucumber, lettuce and other fruits into the nation.

Obasanjo bared his mind at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan at the inaugural meeting of the ‘Nigeria Zero Hunger Strategic Review’ Committee comprising an assemblage of representatives of the World Food Program, African Development Bank, members of the Diplomatic Corps, captains of industry as well as technocrats drawn from both the public and private institutions across the country.

Addressing the forum, Chief Obasanjo, who is the convener of the initiative called for collective change of mind from all Nigerians insisting that a multi-stakeholder and multi-dimensional approach is highly desirable to achieve the goal of a zero hunger nation by 2025 ahead of the 2030 deadline given by the United Nations.

He declared: “Although the SDGs are laudable, the key to achieving them depends on implementation and our collective will. Let me reiterate that the task of attaining the SDGs cannot be left for the government alone, neither can it be left for the civil society nor the private sector. It is going to take the collective effort of each and every citizen of this great nation and our partners.

It will require our collective change of mindset to at first identify the opportunities that abound. It is in this context that we have invited you to this meeting. We will be looking at the second goal of the SGDs which is Zero Hunger. Our main focus will be to clearly articulate what the country needs to do to achieve the SGDs.”

Lagos State Emergency Management say suicide victim is receiving treatment at a hospital

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has released a statement on the man who attempted to commit suicide yesterday at Adebisi Ogunniyi Crescent, Lekki Phase I. The statement below:

"A man identified as Fredrick Gino, a foreigner from Cameroun climbed an electric pole in attempt to commit suicide, at Adebisi Ogunniyi Crescent, Lekki Phase I.

Reports from eye witnesses stated that he had been on the pole since 5:30 am. All efforts by the Community to bring him down proved abortive.

However, the Agency’s Officials in collaboration with the State Fire Service, was able to rescue the attempted suicide victim. In an attempt to rescue him, he sustained injury and immediately taken to Oba Yekini Elegushi Primary Health Care Centre, Lekki Phase I.

The General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Michael Akindele said that security Operatives will conduct proper investigation on the matter. He advised people to be security vigilant of strange faces around them, as well as reporting such incident to security operatives or call the toll free line 767 or 112 for necessary assistance.

The GM also appreciates the support of Chief Yemi Adesanya, one of the Chiefs in the Community as well as the Eko Electricity Distribution Company for their support and timely response"
